Why Fit and Active?

Many kidney patients, especially dialysis patients, feel that they don't have the energy to exercise. Others feel that dialysis patients can't be fit and active, that somehow it is an oxymoron. However, after being on hemo-dialysis for two years, I have found that there are many dialysis patients who exercise regularly, participate in walks & runs, as well as compete in competitions.

I have also discovered, through research, that dialysis patients who exercise regularly live longer, feel better, and have improved mood. Exercise strengthens your heart and lungs! Since I know that I have been inspired by other active patients, I am hoping that through this blog I can also inspire other patients to become fit and active.

Check out my links to other kidney patients website who are living well on dialysis - "Other Fit and Active Folks".
